Japan Luggage Storage: Check Collection Hours Before You Leave Your Bag

Plan a same-day luggage-storage return with a collection worksheet, a worked timing example, and questions for the storage counter.

Before leaving your bag, plan how you will return to that exact counter. The useful deadline is the time by which the counter will hand your bag back, not simply the building’s closing time or the hours shown for a different service.

Identify the location and service precisely

Save the service name, building, floor and entrance, with an address you can access offline. Separate storage from dispatch or same-day delivery. The same location may have different deadlines for each.

Yamato’s storage PDF is marked 2026-09-08. Its Jimbocho Station Center row lists same-day handover by 19:30 on weekdays and 18:30 on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. These times belong to that location and document edition. They are not a universal storage rule or a shipping cutoff. Ask the counter about your date, capacity and any changed hours.

Fill in a return worksheet

Item Your confirmed plan
Date and exact storage counter ___
Last collection time for that date ___
Earlier collection target ___
Journey back from the last activity ___
Uncertainty allowance ___
Latest time to leave that activity ___
Collection receipt or identification ___

Include the onward trip after collection. A restaurant reservation and the return journey can conflict even when both locations are open.

Use a timing example to find conflicts

In this fictional example, the collection deadline is 18:30. You choose an 18:00 collection target, estimate a 35-minute return journey, and allow another 15 minutes for uncertainty. You would leave the preceding activity by 17:10.

A dinner starting at 17:30 does not fit that plan. The arithmetic is an illustration, not a measured walking time or a recommendation for a particular city. Replace each value with evidence relevant to your actual route and circumstances.

Ask the counter before handing over the bag

  • What is the final collection time today, and where do I collect?
  • What proof must I keep, and what happens if it is lost?
  • Are my bag size and contents accepted, and what is the actual charge?
  • What happens if I am late? Is overnight storage or an extension available?
  • Are there any breaks, closures or changed arrangements on my date?

Do not assume an extension or overnight stay exists. Confirm the terms before storing the bag, keep essential items with you, and set a reminder around the time you must leave the previous activity. This checklist does not confirm a counter’s live availability.
